Supporting SafeHouse Center
Your Donations Make a Difference!

Our own marketing director, Paige Biskaduros, chatted with Christine Watson, SafeHouse’s executive director, to learn more about the impact of Jelly Bean Jump Up.
Paige: SafeHouse Center has been a crucial resource for survivors in our community. Why is partnering with Zingerman’s through the Jelly Bean Jump Up (JBJU) an important part of advancing your mission?
Christine: SafeHouse Center’s mission is grounded in compassion and community responsibility, and we see those same values reflected in the community impact of Zingerman’s. The Jelly Bean Jump Up campaign demonstrates Zingerman’s commitment to show love and care in all their actions and enrich as many lives as possible because this event turns a shared meal into meaningful support for survivors and their families. After so many years of collaboration, this partnership stands as a powerful example of how local businesses can help expand our reach, raise awareness, and uplift the voices of survivors throughout our community.
Paige: What does community support, like the donations and awareness raised through the Jelly Bean Jump Up, enable SafeHouse to do that might otherwise be difficult to fund?
Christine: The generosity behind the JBJU campaign supports the heart of our work. Donations strengthen our 24-hour helpline, shelter, legal advocacy, and crisis response so survivors can access safety and support whenever they need it. We also appreciate how the campaign amplifies our outreach and public education efforts, helping us spread awareness, reduce stigma, and make sure survivors know they have a safe place to go.
Paige: How does the visibility from a community tradition like the Jelly Bean Jump Up help SafeHouse deepen public understanding about domestic violence and sexual assault?
Christine: Events like JBJU help create a more informed and compassionate community. The visibility encourages people to pause, learn, and reflect on how domestic violence and sexual assault affect families and neighbors. It also helps survivors see that the community stands with them. Through this shared experience, we can broaden understanding, strengthen empathy, and encourage more people to become part of the solution, and we are grateful for this partnership doing just that!
