We’re turning 10 on Saturday, August 10th!

Greetings Candy Lovers!

It is with much gratitude and thankfulness that we mark the 10th anniversary of the start of Zingerman’s Candy Manufactory. I can hardly believe it’s been a decade of making the best candy we can and sharing it with as many people as we can! At least seven or eight years of development of recipes and selling some our our candy was happening before the actual Manufactory was born as a business!

To give you an idea of what that’s meant to our kitchen crew, over the last 10 years we’ve cooked, whipped, portioned, weighed, packaged, or enrobed in chocolate:

  • 360,000 full size Zzang! Bars (just the one flavor!)
  • 63,000 pounds of peanut brittle
  • 34,000 pounds of marshmallows

And that’s just a few of our most popular confections!

Two years ago on May 1, we moved our production into our beautiful new candy kitchen that many of you have viewed through the observation window in our new retail space out front, allowing us to share with you, first hand, what it really looks like to make our delicious confections. We’re particularly excited about having our little Candy Store—located on Plaza Drive, between Zingerman’s Coffee Co and Zingerman’s Creamery—where you can taste and shop at the “candy source!!” We’ve put together a wonderful selection of confectionary, including our own candy bars and brittles along with offerings from chocolate and candy makers from San Francisco and Santo Domingo, Sweden, France, Denmark, and all the way from Dubai!

It’s through you, our wonderful guests, that we are here today, and we are honored and excited to serve you for another 10, 20, 50 years into the future!

Events on August 10

We’ve got some fun events, things to watch and specials planned and we hope you will join us.

  • CHOCOLATE SAMPLING! 11am – 2pm—Christine from Coco Doro will be sampling out “Xoco” chocolate, an amazing rare heirloom variety of cacao from Honduras known as “Mayan Red.”
  • MARZIPAN SAMPLING! 2pm – 5pm—Dahlia from Ann Arbor’s own Marzipops will be sharing her delicious and beautiful hand-decorated marzipan treats.
  • WATCH CANDY MAKING! Between 11am and 3pm you might get to see our Candy maker Salina making marshmallows, pouring and pulling peanut brittle, or dipping handmade candy bars.
  • TOURS! When there are NO pots of 380 degree boiling sugar on the stove, we’ll be offering a few opportunities for brief tours of our candy kitchen led by Jamie, our production supervisor.
