October's Nonprofit Spotlight is Educate Youth!

Educate Youth guides and encourages Ypsilanti teens to earn their high school diploma with a two year post-high school plan and a goal of becoming future leaders who will strengthen and drive change in their community.

Educate Youth is incredibly dedicated to ensuring their students have academic success. Educate Youth is not a drop in program, so each student is making the conscious commitment to spend an additional 12+ hours each week on school work, after being in school all day. This commitment pays off, as Educate Youth students have a 100% high school graduation rate.

Resources Offered

Educate Youth provides teens in Ypsilanti with academic and social emotional support, a daily hot meal, and different experiences such as field trips and college visits. Students in need can contact Gail Wolkoff at [email protected] for more information on how to become a participant in their programs.

Volunteering

Educate Youth welcomes volunteers, though they like to have volunteers that are able to come in on a consistent basis as so much of their work is relationship based. Their main expectation of volunteers is that they are kind and respectful to all, and able to provide academic support through tutoring of any subjects, and use the internet to do so as needed. Reach out with any questions or interest.

Other support

Community members can best contribute to their organization through donations, and spreading the word about Educate Youth and what they do through their social media pages. So be sure to follow them for regular updates!

A variety of donations can be taken to their Clubhouse at 104 S. Huron, Apartment 1 in Ypsilanti. Please contact Gail Wolkoff in advance at [email protected] to ensure someone is at the Clubhouse to greet you when you drop by.
