June's Spotlight Organization is SOS Community Services

SOS promotes housing stability and family self-sufficiency through collaboration, care and respect.

Every child deserves a place to call home.

At SOS, they work to prevent and end homelessness and hunger. They strive to ensure all children, families, and individuals have the resources they need to make the most of housing, employment, health, education, and other opportunities in our community.

What Resources Does SOS Offer to the Community

SOS provides shelter and Rapid Rehousing to families with children who are experiencing homelessness. People in need of these services call Housing Access of Washtenaw County at 734-961-1999. SOS provides groceries through a weekly food distribution. During the pandemic, pantry visitors are asked to visit soscs.org/food-pantry to schedule their grocery pick up. SOS offers services to prevent eviction for Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher tenants. SOS also provides a nationally recognized early childhood program, Parents as Teachers. Visit soscs.org or call 734-485-8730 for more information about signing up for these programs.

Why Zingerman's Loves SOS

As longtime community partners of this great organization, we've been able to witness the tremendous impact they have on our community. With their multifaceted approach, they're truly tackling some of the toughest issues facing people in our area. We believe everyone deserves access to a safe home and nutritious food, and it's inspiring to see SOS go above and beyond that call. Their range of programming and resources have helped thousands of individuals, children, youth, and families in and around Washtenaw County for decades. Their services have continued throughout the pandemic and have been more crucial than ever as so many are facing food scarcity and a terrifying housing crisis. We are incredibly honored to put a spotlight on their excellent mission and continue our partnership.
