Our June Spotlight is on the SunBundle!
The SunBundle Mission Statement:
To inspire and empower underserved children and youth through fitness and sport by giving new life to gently used athletic gear.
The SunBundle team would love for you to donate sports equipment you no longer need that is still in good shape. They are always open to receiving donations, if you can’t donate via a monetary donation you are always welcome to donate gear instead!

Events to support The SunBundle
Zingerman's at AFC Ann Arbor in support of The SunBundle!

Zingerman's will have a special tent at this AFC Ann Arbor soccer match giving away swag bags filled with Zingerman's goodies and snacks, in exchange for a donation to The SunBundle! You can donate either cash (or with a card) or gently used athletic gear. Then stick around and enjoy AFC Ann Arbor vs. Midwest United in their showdown for the Mighty Oak! Zingerman's Deli Garage Sale (featuring the SunBundle team!)

8:00 am –4:00 pm
The SunBundle will come visit our Zingerman's Deli Garage Sale on Saturday, June 20th as a featured guest and we're setting them up with space to collect donations! So if you can't make it to the AFC soccer game and you have athletic gear (or want to make a monetary donation in person) for The SunBundle then stop on by to this free event! We're also partnering with local nonprofit A2Zero at this event, so it's a reduce, reuse, recycle match made in heaven all around! While you're there to visit SunBundle folks, you can also check out Zing items for sale from artwork to kitchenware, and much more! RVSP for more info about the event online to learn more.
Resources The SunBundle Team Provides
The SunBundle provides sports equipment to youth in need. The organization specializes in sneakers and track/ cross country spikes, but also redistributes clothing and other athletic equipment. To date they've supplied over $120,000 worth of gear to young people in the community.
The organization is currently looking to expand their reach across Southeast Michigan and would love to collaborate with more high schools. Additionally, The SunBundle provides educational sessions and events with collegiate athletes and The SunBundle team. These include health and fitness, nutrition and hydration information, goal setting workshops, and more.
These sessions can be scheduled with The SunBundle directly (via email) to coordinate a time to meet students. You can find their contact page on their website to reach out.
How to Support The SunBundle
Community members can get involved by volunteering at The SunBundle's cleaning or bundle creation events, donating old athletic equipment, or donating monetarily. These events are sent out via The SunBundle's newsletter as well as posted on social media, so following The SunBundle and signing up for the newsletter are ideal ways for staying in the loop about upcoming events!
Donating to The SunBundle
The SunBundle accepts sports equipment as well as financial gifts. These donations can be dropped off at a community location (Ann Arbor Running Company on Plymouth Road or Play it Again Sports-Ann Arbor), picked up, or mailed.
There will also be two opportunities this June to donate to SunBundle through Zingerman's partnered events! Check out the events list for more details!
Volunteering with The SunBundle
The SunBundle is able to function through community engagement. They offer a variety of volunteer events such as equipment cleaning, event set up, and care package building. Check out their website and social media for ways to get involved.
Why Zing Loves The SunBundle
This mission was started by successful athletes that had noticed the inequities in sports and fitness. They wanted to make sure everyone had access to performing their best, staying healthy, and having fun. So they are making sure that youth from underserved communities are being given the opportunity to participate by providing them with the equipment they need to be involved. Zingerman's is also passionate about equity. The idea that any child wouldn't be able to be a part of something that is healthy, empowering, and joyful due to the financial stressors for their family is heartbreaking, especially when the limiting resources are abundant. The work that The SunBundle is doing to redistribute the gear needed and provide crucial access is inspiring and thoughtful. We're honored to support this work.
