Pi(e) and a Pint day
March 14, 2023

Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels (YMOW) is serving up its annual Pi(e) and a Pint event with a side of adventure this year. Join the YMOW team at The Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti on Pi Day, March 14, where you can enjoy a slice of pie (or another tasty treat) and a pint of locally crafted beer for just $14 - the cost of two healthy meals for a homebound senior. The event takes place from noon to 9 p.m. and offers delicious treats that range from sweet to savory, donated by local bake houses including Zingerman's, the Ypsi Co-op, and Go! Ice Cream. At 6 p.m. the adventure begins with a D&D game, featuring well-known Ypsi gamers like Angel Vanas of Star Studio, Curtis Wallace of Be Creative Studio, and Micheal Patino of the Tipsi Ypsi Paint Party Studio. The Quest is tied to YMOW's mission - getting essential supplies to those in need. Event attendees can play along with YMOW’s band of heroes by donating to get them level-ups and supplies. Guests can vote in "choose your own adventure" polls to determine the next action the players take. The game will be live-streamed via Twitch and the event website, so you can participate from the comfort of home, and help YMOW reach its goal of raising $5,000, to support the growing need in Ypsilanti. The website and Facebook event will be live by January 9th, so follow Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels to keep up on all of the details.

Why does Zingerman's love YMOW

Some of our Zingerman's staff were able to volunteer with YMOW recently and it was such a great experience! We loved seeing all the happy faces answering their doors and you can tell that the clients using these services look forward to their regular visits. Not only does everyone deserve a proper meal, but everyone deserves this sort of kindness and connection. Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels does such a great job taking care of so many people in our community! They serve a whopping 200 people a day!
